School Immunizations

Does your child need immunizations for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year?

Pre-K: All required infant immunizations plus Prevnar (the pneumonia vaccine). If given after age 2, only one Prevnar vaccine is required.

Kindergarten: All required infant immunizations plus the boosters for DTaP, Polio, MMR, and Chickenpox. These can be given anytime after the age of 4. These are given in combinations of Kinrix (DTaP/Polio) and ProQuad (MMRV). Also, a recommended Hepatitis A vaccine, which is a series of two doses.

6th grade: After the child’s 11th birthday, the above immunizations plus Tdap and the first dose of meningococcal (MCV4). It is recommended to start the Hepatitis A & Gardasil 9 (HPV) series at this time although they are not required for school.9th grade: Nothing required; Hepatitis A & Gardasil 9 (HPV) are recommended.

12th grade: The above immunizations plus either a single dose of meningococcal (MCV4) after the age of 16 or 2 doses of meningococcal (MCV4) with one being after the age of 16.
